Ubuntu Look

Yesterday, Dell announced to its customers in Canada and Latin America that the Inspiron 1525n now has the option of shipping with Ubuntu 7.10, as well as with the Canadian models of the XPS M1330n and Inspiron 530. The latter two will ship in Latin America soon.

The computers will feature DVD playback capability, just like the
models announced in the United States, UK, Spain and Germany. If you want support for them, the prices will start at $65 for 30 days, and will go up to $275 for one year of standard support from Canonical.

Hello Ubuntu developers,

Welcome to Hardy Heron Alpha-5, which will in time become Ubuntu 8.04.

Pre-releases of Hardy are *not* encouraged for anyone needing a stable
system or anyone who is not comfortable running into occasional, even
frequent breakage. They are, however, recommended for Ubuntu developers
and those who want to help in testing, reporting, and fixing bugs.

Alpha 5 is the fifth in a series of milestone CD images that will be
released throughout the Hardy development cycle. The Alpha images are known
to be reasonably free of showstopper CD build or installer bugs, while

It’s time for another Launchpad release and this is one with something for just about everyone!

• Faster PPA builds: we’ve cut the time it takes to build packages in PPAs. The moment you upload your source, Launchpad starts building.
• More bug notifications: now you can subscribe to get bug mail about any milestone, project, package or distribution.
• Savannah bug watches: keep an eye on bugs tracked at savannah.gnu.org and savannah.nongnu.org
• Easier branch registrations: we’ve improved the UI on the branch registration page.
• Karma fiends take note: registering branches and linking branches to bugs or blueprints now earns you karma! Find out more about karma.

The reactions to the screenshots of the prototypes of EnvyNG 1.1.x were positive however some users (see the comments to my previous posts and this blog post ) led me into thinking that it’s time for me to change EnvyNG’s icon and logo.

I won’t draw a new icon and logo myself though. I wouldn’t define myself as skilled with the GIMP or Inkscape therefore I need your help:

• If you are a designer (or you can use either the GIMP, Inkscape, etc.) you can send me an icon and logo (you can find my email address on my website) which reflect your idea of what EnvyNG should look like.
• If you’re not a designer you can post a comment the artwork you think it’s more appropriate.
