Lubuntu 11.04 Released

Right after the announcement for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal), Mario Behling proudly announced last night (April 28th) that Julien Lavergne has released the lightweight Lubuntu 11.04 operating system.

Lubuntu 11.04 is, of course, based on the lightweight LXDE desktop environment and Ubuntu 11.04, with the PCManFM 0.9.8 as the default file manager, LXDM as the default display manager, and Chromium as the default web browser.

“Lubuntu is actually not part of the Ubuntu family, and not build with the current Ubuntu infrastructure. This release is considered as a «stable beta», a result that could be a final and stable release if we were included in the Ubuntu family.” – said the developer in the release announcement.
