Magiea 3 is Shaping up with Alpha 3

After a bit of a delay Mageia 3 Alpha 3 was released yesterday.  This offering brings several improvements, new security checks, and upgrades, but unfortunately for the impatient, no new artwork. Mageia is asking for testers, particularly of the installer and upgrade process, and bug reports to help make Mageia 3 as rock solid as possible. Those testing this release will find that the migration to systemd is complete, but Legacy GRUB is still the default. GRUB 2 is available for the testing, but there’s still more work needed there. btrfs is now supported and the move to /usr is complete. The package management system has received some updates and bug fixes. RPM has been updated to 4.10.1 and RPMDrake got a few bug fixes. Urpmi has been "refactored and cleaned," gotten several bug fixes, and some new security checks. Mageia 3 Alpha 3 features Linux 3.6.5, GCC 4.7.2, and Xorg X Server 1.13.0. Some of the software includes KDE 4.9.2, GNOME 3.6.1, LibreOffice 3.6.3, Firefox 16.0.2, and GIMP 2.8.2. Alpha 3 was originally slated for November 12 and arrived a couple of days late, but Beta 1 is scheduled for December 12, Beta 2 January 11, and Beta 3
